S1E2 Battle of Plassey | The Revolution - Untold Story of Indian Freedom...

In 1756, following the death of Alivardi Khan, young Shiraz-ud-Daula became the nawab of Bengal, but his claim to the throne was met with opposition from both his own family and the British. Among the major conspirators against him were Ghaseti Begum, Shawkat Jung, and Mir Jafar, all of whom had some relation to the nawab. Siraj anticipated the treachery and removed Mir Jafar, promoting Mohanlal to the position of commander instead. However, he made the mistake of later reinstating Mir Jafar as the chief of commanders. The conflict between the East India Company and the nawab began on the day of Siraj's ascension to the throne, and it eventually led to the Battle of Plassey in 1757, where Siraj was betrayed by Mir Jafar and defeated by the British.
